Construction and working principle
A biological turntable is composed of discs, contact reaction tanks, rotating shafts, and driving devices. The discs are connected in series as a group, with a rotating shaft running through them. The two ends of the rotating shaft are installed on the support of the semi-circular contact reaction groove.
1. Disc: It is the main body of the biological turntable, and as a carrier of biofilm, it has the characteristics of light weight, high strength, corrosion resistance, anti-aging, and large specific surface area. Foamed plastic board, glass fiber reinforced plastic, stainless steel, PVC or polystyrene are often used.
2. Contact oxidation tank: a water tank located directly below the turntable, with a rectangular flat shape and a semi-circular cross-sectional shape. It is generally made of steel plates or reinforced concrete, with water inlet equipment at both ends of the oxidation tank, and mud discharge pipes and vent pipes at the bottom of the tank.
3. Rotary shaft: Solid steel shaft or seamless steel pipe is used, and the shaft length is controlled between 5-7m. The distance between the axis and the water surface should be ≥ 0.15m, ensuring that the axis is above the liquid surface. According to the arrangement of the disc and shaft, the turntable can be a single shaft single stage type, a single shaft multi-stage type, or a multi shaft multi-stage type.
4. Driving device: The driving device of the biological turntable includes two parts: power equipment and deceleration device. Power equipment is divided into electric mechanical transmission, air transmission, and hydraulic transmission. Generally, electric drive is used. The electric biological turntable is powered by an electric motor and drives the shaft to rotate at the desired speed through a variable speed device. The rotational speed is too high, the energy consumption is high, and the shaft is prone to damage, causing premature detachment of the biofilm. Therefore, it is necessary to choose the appropriate rotational speed.
